Tatranska Lomnica is a village established in 1892 by a Hungarian landlord and as the first health resort in the High Tatras mountains. It is a significant touristic and holiday centre in this mountains. Among the first „bigger“ buildings rank hotel Lomnica (1893) and Grandhotel Praha (1905). There is a headquorter of TANAP (Tatra´s national park) and also a museum of TANAP has been set here. Tatranska Lomnica is and important starting point for further tourist trips, mainly thanks to a cableway (opened in 1940) goes to Lomnicky stit via Skalnate pleso.
